Dara Shikoh: The Mystical Mughal

Dara Shikoh is belived to have been born to Shahjahan 20th March 1615 A.D ,after years of yearning and prayers at the the tomb of the great Chishti Saint Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti with folded hands and knees down for a son. earlier children had been daughters. Alas! the child born had the influence of the teachings of the Sufi saint.

Dara , son of Shahjahan who after Akbar and Humayun was someone who vigilantly worked to reform a culture to co exist peacefully with all religious communities and decided to  read more into it .

Shahjahan was a art conesseuir . People of this world now know Taj Mahal as an immortal dedication and love to his wife and art .
Dara was married to his cousin Nadira Bano in an exceptionally lavish wedding. Some accounts state that it is believed to be one of the most lavish and expensive weddings in Mughal history


Eventually Dara’s  Sufi soul was crushed at the hands of his brother Aurangzeb in a struggle for power. Some accounts argue his sexuality and some argue what the history would have been if a liberal like Dara would’ve led Subcontinent forward .
